Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Correction)

Restore a Refreshed, Open Look. Expert Upper and Lower Eyelid Surgery by Dr. Arthur Hakobyan

The eyes are the focal point of the face. Unfortunately, they are also the first area to show signs of aging. Excess skin, drooping eyelids ("hooding"), and puffy bags can make you look exhausted, sad, or older than you feel—even after a good night's sleep.

Our goal is subtle rejuvenation. We do not aim to change your features or give you a "surprised" look. We simply want you to look like the most rested version of yourself.

Precision Meets Artistry.

Eyelid surgery requires millimeter-level precision. As a Maxillofacial and plastic surgeon,  understands the complex anatomy of the orbit (eye socket), ensuring safety for your vision and natural-looking results.

  • Volume Preservation: Old-school techniques simply removed fat, often leading to "hollow" eyes later in life. We use modern techniques to reposition fat, filling tear troughs and smoothing the transition between the eyelid and the cheek.

  • Invisible Scarring: Incisions are strategically placed in natural creases or inside the eyelid, making them virtually undetectable once healed.

  1. Upper Blepharoplasty: We remove the excess fold of skin that hangs over the eyelashes. This "opens up" the gaze and makes applying makeup much easier. In some cases, it also improves peripheral vision.

  2. Lower Blepharoplasty: This targets the "bags" under the eyes and deep tear troughs. We remove or redistribute the herniated orbital fat and tighten loose skin if necessary.

  3. Transconjunctival Blepharoplasty (Scarless): Ideal for younger patients with puffiness/bags but good skin elasticity. The incision is made inside the lower eyelid. There are no external scars and recovery is extremely fast.

  4. Cantopexy / Cantoplasty (Optional): If the lower eyelid is lax or drooping, we can tighten the outer corner (canthus) to provide better support and a more youthful "almond" shape.

Quick Procedure, Long-Lasting Results:

  1. Consultation: We assess your eye shape, skin quality, and brow position to determine the best technique for you.

  2. The Surgery:

    • Anesthesia: Usually performed under Local Anesthesia with light sedation (twilight sleep) or full anesthesia when you have a deep sleep. You are relaxed and feel no pain.

    • Duration: 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

    • Go Home: You can return home shortly after the procedure.

  3. Recovery:

    • Day 1-3: You should apply cold compresses (ice packs) to reduce swelling.

    • Day 5-7: Stitches are removed.

    • Day 10: Most bruising has faded, and you can cover any remaining signs with concealer.

FAQ about Blepharoplasty

Have questions about scheduling or what to expect? Here are answers to common inquiries to help you feel fully prepared.

No. The surgery is performed on the eyelids, not the eyeball itself. Your vision remains untouched. Temporary blurred vision immediately after surgery (due to ointment) is normal and passes quickly.

Eyelid skin is the thinnest in the body and heals remarkably well. Upper lid scars are hidden in the natural crease when your eyes are open. Lower lid scars (if external) are hidden just below the lashes. They usually fade to a thin white line within weeks.

You should avoid wearing contact lenses for about 2 weeks after surgery to avoid pulling on the eyelids. Please have your glasses ready.

Yes, this is the most common combination. Treating the eyes and the lower face together provides a complete and harmonious rejuvenation
