Otoplasty (Ear Correction)

Wear Your Hair Up with Confidence. Natural-looking ear correction for children and adults

Prominent or asymmetrical ears are not a health risk, but they can be a significant source of psychological distress. Many of our adult patients have spent years styling their hair specifically to cover their ears, while parents often worry about their children facing teasing at school.

We believe Otoplasty is one of the most rewarding procedures because it offers an immediate boost in self-esteem. Our goal is not just to "pin" the ears back, but to reshape them so they look natural, proportional, and harmonious with your facial features.

Timing is Everything.

  • For Children (Age 6+): The ideal time for otoplasty is between ages 6 and 7, before the child starts primary school. By this age, the ear cartilage has finished 90% of its growth. Correcting the ears early helps prevent potential bullying and social anxiety.

  • For Adults: It is never too late. Whether you are 20 or 50, you can finally resolve the insecurity that has bothered you for years. For adults, the procedure is often simpler and can sometimes be performed under local anesthesia.

  • Otoplasty
  • Prominent ears
  • Macrotia
  • Congenital Auricular Deformity

Simple Steps to a New Look:

  1. Consultation: We examine the ear structure (softness of cartilage, angle of protrusion) and plan the correction.

  2. The Surgery:

    • Children: Performed under general anesthesia (sleep) for their comfort. Duration: 1–1.5 hours.

    • Adults: Can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on your preference.

  3. The Headband: After surgery, a light bandage is applied. You will need to wear a special compression headband (like a sports band) day and night for 1 week, and then only at night for another 2–3 weeks to protect the ears while sleeping.

  4. Recovery: Discomfort is mild (usually described as a dull ache). Stitches are removed (or dissolve) after 7–10 days.

FAQ about otoplasty

Have questions about scheduling or what to expect? Here are answers to common inquiries to help you feel fully prepared.

No. The surgery is performed on the outer ear (the pinna). It has absolutely no effect on the middle or inner ear where hearing occurs.

Yes. Once the cartilage is reshaped and heals in the new position, the results are lifelong.

Unilateral Otoplasty is possible. However, we often recommend adjusting both ears slightly to achieve perfect symmetry, as natural ears are rarely identical.

You can usually shower and wash your hair 3–4 days after the surgery, once the initial heavy bandage is replaced with the lighter headband.
